What is LonWorks?
LonWorks is a network solution in which devices communicate directly with each other (peer to peer) in control applications; it is common in building automation, lighting and HVAC systems.
Shielded or unshielded?
The unshielded 16 AWG 8471 family is used on standard lines. Choose foil-shielded 7703NH and 7704NH in electrically noisy environments.
Ethernet cable for IP-based LonWorks

What is LonWorks cable?
It is the twisted-conductor data cable that links LonWorks devices. At Belden, the 16 AWG two-conductor 8471 family and the 22 AWG shielded 7703NH and 7704NH are used for this purpose.
Which LonWorks cable is used inside buildings?
8471NH, 7703NH or 7704NH (all Dca) where a halogen-free jacket and a CPR class are required. Otherwise PVC-jacketed 8471.
What is the difference between 8471 and 7703NH?
8471 is 16 AWG, unshielded and PVC-jacketed. 7703NH is 22 AWG, foil shielded and halogen-free.
Do I have to buy a full reel?
No. We supply cut lengths. The part number and the total length are enough.
