Frequently asked questions about broadcast encoders

What is the difference between SPTS and MPTS?

SPTS (single program transport stream) carries one programme, MPTS (multi program transport stream) carries several programmes in one transport stream. SPTS is usual for IPTV distribution, MPTS for broadcast and modulator feeds.

Which models have an ASI output?

The MPE-4000, MPE-4001 and MPE-3000. All three also have an ASI input, so the incoming stream can be multiplexed with the programmes the device encodes.

Which models support the SRT protocol?

According to the manufacturer’s published information the SHDE-400, SHDE-4000, EMU-8500 and EMU-9500.
