A fiber link is terminated with these three parts. All are available in multimode 50/125 µm (OM2, OM3) and 62.5/125 µm (OM1) and singlemode 9/125 µm, in simplex and duplex bodies.

The part that terminates the fiber end. Panels, outlets and equipment ports are all entered with this connector.

Multimode: SC, ST, LC, MTRJ, FC/PC

Singlemode: SC, SC/APC, ST, LC, LC/APC, FC/PC, FC/APC, E2000, E2000/APC

PC or APC: APC is recognized by its green body and is asked for wherever back reflection matters — FTTH, CATV and RF-over-fiber links. The two types must never be mated.

One end connectorized in the factory, the other bare fiber. It is fusion spliced to the field cable — the most common and lowest-loss way to terminate.
