Frequently asked questions about SMATV and satellite TV distribution
What is the difference between a DVB-C headend and a multiswitch in an SMATV system?
A multiswitch distributes the satellite IF signal unchanged to the subscribers, each of whom needs a satellite receiver. A DVB-C headend converts the selected services to DVB-C, so they are watched with the built-in tuner of the television, without a receiver.
How is the signal carried to distant buildings?
Because of the attenuation of coaxial cable, satellite over fiber systems are used over long distances; details are on the TV and satellite over fiber page.
I do not know the model code. How do I get a quotation?
Send the number of transponders and channels, whether any services are encrypted and the destination of the streams; we will suggest the model.
