Why choose an armoured data cable
Armour protects the cable against crushing, impact and rodents and lets it be laid in a tray or along a structure without conduit. The data cable inside is the same construction as the unarmoured type, so the network performance does not change.
Interlock or continuous armour?
Interlock armour is a flexible, spiral-wound metal strip. Continuous corrugated armour is a closed metal tube, chosen where liquids or gases must be kept out.
When is bronze braid used?
Bronze braid armour with LSZH jackets is the construction Belden offers for marine and offshore use.
Do I still need a shield?
Yes. The armour is mechanical protection. The foil and braid shield of the data cable underneath remains the electrical shield.

Frequently asked questions
How do I read a Belden armoured cable code?
In most cases a two-digit prefix is added to the base code: 123105A and 133105A are the aluminium and steel interlock versions of 3105A. If you know the base cable, send it to us with the armour you need.
Is there an armoured RS-485 cable?
Yes. For example 123105A, 133105A and the bronze-armoured 773105T; the full list is in the RS-485 group above.
Is there an armoured industrial Ethernet cable?
Yes. Belden lists aluminium-armoured DataTuff types such as 121700A and 121872A.
Do I have to buy a full reel?
No. We supply cut lengths. The part number and the total length are enough.
